Dulwich Hospital |
It is now hoped that the new hospital will open in
2007. King's College Hospital is to transfer its acute services to Denmark Hill and will vacate Dulwich Hospital by the end of this year. The building of the new hospital is expected to begin early in 2005.
The first developments to be completed are:
• the Primary Care Centre;
• the Wellbeing Centre, which will include public health and meeting and office space;
• outpatients;
• prosthesis (for both old and young).
The number of patients expected daily is 2,000-3,000 (a "guess"). Staff will number about 300.
The remainder of the site is still being debated, but the majority of CICG members are insisting that it be used for affordable houses or flats for staff and/or other interests of the hospital.
The CICG has a mini-forum sub-group which visits organisations throughout Southwark to inform them and work with them to ensure that their interests are included in the development of the hospital.
